Slough Citizenship Ceremony

The mayor of Slough and me deputising for the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire. Citizenship ceremonies happen all over the country everyday. Local councils receive their new citizens and the county Lieutenancy, representing His Majesty the King, say a few words of congratulations, encouragement and welcome. The mayor told me that Slough is the most ethnically diverse towns in the UK has the most registered languages of any town in the country at over 150.

New citizens and their families gather, dressed in their best, for an hour where they affirm their allegiance to the King and the values of our nation, receive their certificates and sign the national anthem.
